NAC Call for Arts Project Applications in response to COVID-19

The National Arts Council (NAC) invites artists and arts organisations to apply for funding for arts projects that comply with Covid-19 restrictions and protocols.

This new project call supersedes and replaces the one that closed on 30 April 2020, and is part of the NAC’s response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Eligibility:

Applications may be made for the funding of arts projects within the following programmes: Social cohesion and nation-building; Innovation, design and creation of new work; Capacity building; Strategic initiatives; and Platforms, exhibitions and festivals. Proposed projects should be of national significance, taking into account the NAC’s strategic imperatives of the creation of new works, arts development, arts promotion, job creation opportunities, capacity building in arts entrepreneurship and facilitation of access to the arts through innovative digital works.

Preference will be given to applications that promote environmental sustainability, nation-building and social cohesion, and have a strong community base, conceived in collaboration with others working in similar fields. Proposed projects must demonstrate impact and value for the communities in which they operate.

The project applied for must fulfil two or more of the following arts outcomes: economic value, creative value, social value, therapeutic value and educational value.

This funding call also extends to arts organisations and individuals that support the involvement of women, youth and people living with disabilities, particularly in historically disadvantaged areas.

Benefits:

The minimum allocation per application is R100 000, and the maximum is R500 000. The allocations will be in line with the redress and transformation imperatives of the NAC.

Deadline: 19 June 2020
